Jürgen Tarrasch at PRH

Interchange, 2013

Jürgen Tarrasch’s work is influenced by nature, and the installation is based on the landscape and flora around him. He named the project “Vines and Leaves” because vines represent the interconnectedness of life, the intertwining of individuals; while leaves are separate and independent and reflect individuality and diversity. The leaves are symbolic of Tarrasch’s thoughts and the thoughts of those that will come and go through the house; thoughts that wander and change as the leaves appear to move and sway as visitors view them from different perspectives within the house.

Jürgen Tarrasch received his MFA in painting and wall painting in 1993 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland. He was recently named a Joan Mitchell Foundation Legacy Artist. He has participated in a number of individual and group exhibitions, and his work can be found in both public and private collections. Jürgen currently lives and works in Birmingham, Alabama.
