“Pray the Gay Away” art series delves deep into the realms of visual storytelling to unravel the intricate narratives of LGBTQ+ individuals who have faced the distressing concept of “conversion therapy.” through Religion. Through a fusion of evocative imagery, intricate symbolism, and digital craftsmanship, I aim to shed light on the emotional odyssey of those who have grappled with societal pressures and self-acceptance.

This series is a visual tapestry woven with threads of vulnerability, strength, and liberation. Each composition is a doorway into a world where the struggle to reconcile one’s true identity with external expectations is vividly portrayed. By melding together elements that embody both the oppressive and the liberating, I seek to prompt contemplation on the psychological toll of the past’s harmful practices.

My approach involves harnessing the power of juxtaposition, where contrasting visual elements collide to create a visceral experience for the viewer. Through my images, I invite audiences to confront the internal battles and external influences that shape the journeys of LGBTQ+ individuals who have triumphed over adversity. “Pray the Gay Away” is an artistic commentary that advocates for empathy, understanding, and social change.

As an imagemaker, my purpose is to ignite dialogue and provoke thought. I aim to unravel the narratives that often go unheard, and in doing so, foster a greater understanding of the importance of inclusivity, acceptance, and the celebration of diverse identities. Through this series, I aspire to create not only visual impact but also a lasting impression on hearts and minds, contributing to the ongoing conversation about embracing authenticity and dismantling harmful practices.
