About Space One Eleven
Founded in 1986, Space One Eleven (SOE) provides professional opportunities for artists, fosters public understanding of contemporary art, and offers arts education for area youth. SOE champions artists and projects that speak to issues of equity, justice, and identity, presenting contemporary exhibitions that explore social justice and human rights. Serving as a center for contemporary art and arts education in downtown Birmingham, SOE presents exhibitions and programs that spark dialogue, promote social understanding, and foster community engagement through the visual arts. Position Overview
Space One Eleven seeks an Arts Education Coordinator responsible for the daily logistics of its arts education programs, including City Center Art after-school art classes, summer art camps, in-school teaching artist residencies, as well as adult art workshops.
This is a full-time position. Some evening and weekend work is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and scheduling after-school art classes, summer art camps, in-school teaching artist residencies, and adult art workshops.
- Assist with recruiting and coordinating teaching artists
- Assist with program assessments
- Process student registrations and teaching artist payments
- Market the art education programs
- Update the website and database for the art education programs
- Maintain art studios, equipment, and supplies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Art Education, or Studio Art
- Minimum of one year of experience in a professional setting
- Strong knowledge of art foundations
- Familiarity with standards-based art education practices is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $16.00 per hour
