Continuity, 35th Anniversary Exhibition III
Having written dozens of statements for myself, none pleased me nor were altogether honest about why I paint. So, please forgive this clumsy attempt if, indeed, you read it at all.
I am less of a painter anyway. More of a discoverer, I think.
I simply offer my pictures to those who want to and can share the story.
As Saul Leiter said, “Seeing is a neglected enterprise.”
Each stroke with a brush, line with a pencil, and choice of color is deliberate. After all, random is not random for long. I wish it was. In fact, most of the time I spend painting, I’m not painting at all. I spend it in a mystical stupor. See what I mean about artists’ statements?
