Interchange, 2013
Printproject is an effort to establish a community print shop environment where motivated youths and area artists are given access to a professional print workshop to create lithographs, relief and mono prints. The targeted participants are encouraged to establish new and renewed artistic investigations that challenge marginalized opinions and concepts. Open discussions while participating at Printproject are encouraged.
Printproject is designed to allow artists to work freely in a professional print shop environment under the supervised assistance of a skilled Master Printer. A mentor relationship is available to foster dialogue that gives voice to the aesthetics similar to the print workshops of Atelier 17 Paris, Taller Gráfica de Popular Mexico City and the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop NYC.
Darin Forehand is a Master Printer with over twenty years of experience printing for numerous national and international artists. He received a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and an MFA from Ohio State University. Presently, he has established a lithography atelier in Houston, Texas as “Forehandpress.” recognized for his innovative combination of traditional printmaking processes and computer graphics.
Darin Forehand was Space One Eleven’s 2013 Visual Artists Network resident artist. During his residency, Forehand conducted workshops, demonstrations, and collaborations with Birmingham artists.
