WE DARE DEFEND OUR RIGHTS: The Gun Show
The religious right is easily paired with the gun lobby because of their far right political leadership and lack of commentary or criticism of our gun culture, offering only thoughts and prayers as resolutions even as their religious members are being murdered. I was raised in a Midwestern, protestant family that is, for the most part, very religious and conservative. Hunting is a big part of the culture and guns are commonplace. Although I do not consider myself religious, I know the topic fairly well because of my upbringing. We memorized the ten commandments in Bible school. “Thou shalt not kill” seems like universal common sense. Lastly, hearing a man interviewed on TV blaming the dead victims in the Orlando shooting because they were gay has no place in religion.
