The 2024 Mid-South Sculpture Alliance (MSA) Conference takes place in Birmingham, Alabama, hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from November 6 through November 9, 2024. During the conference, UAB will partner with several Birmingham organizations to host exhibitions for an extended period before, during, and after the conference. In recognition of Birmingham’s rich civil rights history, MSA has selected the theme of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the conference and “Solidarity” for the exhibition at Space One Eleven.
Other Birmingham exhibitions to take place during the MSA conference include:
- “2024 MSA Select,” will be hosted at the Vulcan Materials Gallery at the Alabama School of Fine Arts
- “Momentary Signals, an MSA Exhibition of Performance” will be held at Sloss Furnaces Visitor’s Center, additional outdoor exhibitions will be on view at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark courtyard
- “The Feeling is Monumental,” an outdoor exhibition at the Abrams-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts courtyard
- “2024 Student Pop-Up Exhibition,” An exhibition of work from currently enrolled art students on view at the 2024 MSA Conference at the UAB Department of Art and Art History
- “Engaged: Sculpture as Catalyst for Social Change” an outdoor sculpture exhibition on view at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark Courtyard.
